WAYS TO STAY FIT WHILE TRAVELLING ON WORK

You’ve finally found a fitness regimen that you’re sticking to and you’re called to travel on work. This can get you off track if you’re not sure how to manage. Yes, the breakfast buffets and leaving your gym back home can make you feel like you’re on a vacation. However, if you recognize these aspects you can actually stay on track and get back fitter and feeling better than ever.

This blog discusses a few ways you can actually stay on track while traveling during work:

Watch What You Eat

When you travel, you tend to eat things outside of your diet simply because you’ll be eating according to what’s available around you and airport food is generally not the best option for someone who is on a diet.
What you can do is carry your own sandwich so you can snack on that when you feel hungry.

At a hotel breakfast, stick to what you usually eat. If that’s not an option go for an omelet with a bread slice or two and a fruit bowl to finish off. It contains all the nutrients you need and is a perfect breakfast.

Plan Your Workout In Advance

Only you know your schedule so plan your day such that you dedicate at least half an hour to forty-five minutes for a good workout. If you have time in the morning, the best option would be to start your day with a workout so you feel pumped and energized during the day.

Even if the place you’re staying at doesn’t have a gym, you can do basic bodyweight exercises like squats, push-ups, burpees, etc. A few rounds of these 3 movements is more than enough.

Or if you’d like you can even go for a run outside or if there’s a park nearby that would be the best option.

Try Minimizing Alcohol / Avoid If Possible

Since you’re traveling for work and you consume alcohol you may feel an urge to drink. However, if you do it’s best to stick to hard liquor with water or soda as a mixer. Even with hard liquor, you have not more than 2 60ml shots of whatever it is that you are drinking.

The most important thing is to stay disciplined even when you are traveling. Just cause you are traveling doesn’t mean your fitness regimen has to suffer.

Get Sound Sleep

Try getting a good 7 – 8 hours of sleep every night even when traveling. Good sleep can enhance your overall efficiency during the day which helps you perform tasks in the best possible way.
Also, getting in a workout in the earlier part of the day can help you fall asleep as you’ll be quite tired by the end of the day.

These are a few tips that you can keep in mind while traveling, especially for work. But, even if you do go a bit off track while traveling, you need to know that it’s okay. Don’t get overworked on it. The best thing you can do is fall back on track as fast as you can and you’ll be fine.
