Stress is something that everyone deals with these days. It’s something of a pandemic in its own way. With everyone’s life being so dynamic and happening, we’re bound to feel stressed at some point or the other. The only solution to this is to find ways to deal with our stress in the best way possible and that’s what this blog is about.
So, What Is Stress?
Stress is the response of the human body to external and internal stimuli that disturbs its overall balance and functioning. Continuous and prolonged stress can lead to serious complications in terms of physical and mental health. The core reason for many diseases and illnesses, especially in this 21st century is stress. So, whoever said that stress is a killer wasn’t joking about it.
How Do We Deal With Stress?

The first thing we can do is identify what stresses us out and if that stress is worth handling. It can be anything from personal relations, financial issues, job environments etc. Once you identify what it is, you can find ways to overcome it as well or handle it better at least. Here are some things we can do that may help deal with stress.
#1 – Daily Exercise

Yes, it may seem like a task to exercise every day but once you develop that habit it becomes a part of your routine. Try to fit in a small run, walk or even play a sport that you like. Dedicate at least half an hour a day and you will definitely feel better. Exercise is one of the best ways to bust your stress and it helps keep you healthy as well. So, it’s a complete win-win for you.
#2 – Follow A Healthy Diet

A healthy diet does not mean that you can’t have a burger or a pizza every once in a while. And once you start exercising daily, you’ll automatically feel like eating foods that complement your workouts. A stressful life can force you to eat junk foods but that’s only going to make you feel worse at the end of the day. Limit the junk and eat good foods, you’re sure to feel the difference physically and mentally over the course of time. A healthy body holds a healthy mind and that holds absolutely true here.
#3 – Appreciate The Small Things In Life

Life can be hard at times but it’s important to understand and acknowledge that you still have so many good things around you. You’re breathing, you’re healthy and you have every opportunity around you to make the changes you want to see in your own life. So, every time you feel overwhelmed with all that’s happening around you, just pause for a moment and look around you. You have plenty to be happy about.
#4 – Make An Effort To Think Positively
It can be hard at the start but having a positive mindset in life can really change things for you. When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. Believe in yourself that you can do anything and you will find a way to deal with whatever your problems may be.
Things To Avoid If You’re Feeling Stressed
#1 – Avoid Alcohol & Drugs

Alcohol and other substances may help you temporarily forget about your problems but in the long run, it’s only going to make your state of mental health worse. Your body becomes weakened by these substances and it loses its strength and ability to defeat stress. It’s best to seek help from a professional if you do suffer from alcohol or substance abuse.
#2 – Forget About The Rat Race

It’s good to be competitive but it’s not healthy to be comparing yourself to everyone around you. The person you should compete against should be yourself and that’s how you improve. Do things at your own pace and do things that make you happy and feel alive.
#3 – Get Your Rest

If you don’t give yourself time to recover, it’s only going to increase your levels of stress. So, it’s extremely important that you make sure to get enough sleep because if you don’t that can be a catalyst to increasing your stress.
Stress is something that all of us have to live with. It’s never going to disappear or just go away. What we can do is find the best ways to overcome and defeat it so that at the end of the day we’re happy and that’s what really matters.
