The new age crisis: It’s one life, make it active!

Active life: Is it for you?

Being active is more than just wearing athleisure clothing. Those leggings and shorts might look fly, but being active is really a whole different lifestyle. The awareness around fitness might be the best thing that’s happening in our country right now. Being fit and ensuring we find ways to be fit during our workday or weekend is really great! Does being active mean that we’re constantly lifting weights or doing sit-ups? No. We don’t have to join a gym to be active. Being active means we’re using our body and preventing it from corroding away!

Not being active shouldn’t be an option since there is immense harm to leading an inactive life. Let’s look at how and why we should definitely choose an active life!

  1. Being active prolongs your lifespan: Premature death looks inevitable after all the planet is going through right? If climate change doesn’t end us all after all pollution, obesity and an unhealthy lifestyle definitely look like it will. Leading an active lifestyle is definitely going to cut down our premature deaths by at least 30%. It’s one life, make it active ya’ll!
  2. Saves that heart: Yep, being active is directly linked to your heart’s health. Unless you’ve got spades of those to spare, being active and eating healthy should help keep your health healthy. Regular activity will ensure that the risk of heart diseases and strokes are down 50%. Those are the best chances we’ve got right now, so take them!
  3. Happy you: That’s not just something to get you out of bed. Being active means your brain produces more serotonin (the happy hormone), endorphins and dopamine. That’s a really good high if you ask me, so get yourself off that couch!
  4. Helps mental health: There’s a reason your parents tell you to get some fresh air and exercise when you’re feeling down. Increased physical activity has been proven to help mental health issues like anxiety, stress, and depression. So when you’re having those Monday blues, you know what to do!
  5. Reduces back pain: How many of us suffer from an office back where we’re so used to crouching that we fear we’re going to permanently suffer from back pain? I can almost see you nodding. Go get active because good blood circulation is going to get the required nutrients to that soft back tissue and give it some much needed relief.
  6. Stronger bones and muscles: You know you have to be made of strong stuff right? Which literacy just means strong bones. Physical activity means more tissue is formed around the bones and this ensures the bones to be stronger. Ditch your Horlicks (not the milk though).
  7. Maintains a healthy weight: At this day and age, a healthy weight ensures a healthy mind. Being physically active ensures we burn all the unnecessary weight each day and prevent the storage of fat!
  8. Helps in Concentration: With our fast paced world, our concentration span is taking a hit. Aerobic activity can improve our focus mentally which will help with more tasks!
