SAFETY MEASURES TO KEEP IN MIND WHEN GYMS OPEN

We all know that the gyms are opening in India with restrictions being lifted as a part of Unlock 3.0. While this may be good news for us fitness enthusiasts and lovers we need to keep in mind that the pandemic is still raging and in order to stay safe, we need to follow a number of tips because that’s the least we can do.

In this blog, we’re going to be talking about the basic steps we can take to try and make sure that we stay safe and also protect those around us.

A few basic steps we can take to do this are:

No.1 – Arrive & Leave At Your Allotted Time

● Do not hover at the entrance and try to make conversation with your old gym buddies for a long time. You’ll tend to come in contact with a lot more people in that case and that’s not advisable at all.

● If you see a crowd at the entrance don’t go in. Wait in your car or outside, anywhere but in the exit path until they disperse and you can slowly get in once they clear enough space.

No.2 – Carry Your Own Supplies

● Make sure to carry your own water bottle and towel to the gym. Drinking water from the glasses at the gym is a strict no no.

● Also, don’t forget to wear your mask and only remove them at the time of working out. Do not wear them while exercising.

No.3 – Sanitize Everything

● Sanitize whatever you touch, before you touch them. It won’t hurt to sanitize it once you’re done using the equipment as well. It’s your civic duty to protect your fellow mates.

● Do not touch your face no matter what. If you’re using gloves and wearing a sweatband it reduces the chances or the need to do that.

No.4 – Feeling Unwell? Stay At Home!

● If you feel like you’re sick or know you’re going to fall sick, don’t go to the gym. You’re not only putting yourself but everyone around you at risk.

● Consult a doctor immediately and find out what you can do to treat whatever symptoms you have at the earliest.

No.5 – Don’t Forget About Social Distancing

● While you sweat it out at the gym, make sure you still keep a distance of at least 6 feet from anyone around you.

● This is the golden rule and it’s your responsibility to make sure that you follow that.

No.6 – Do Not Wear Face Masks While Exercising

● It disrupts the flow of oxygen to your lungs which can cause dizziness, lightheadedness and can even make you blackout.

● Note that you do not wear face masks while exercising. It may seem like an ideal thing to do but that’s not the case.

These are a few simple steps that we can follow to stay free of getting infected. Make sure to keep these in mind whenever you go to the gym. And remember, prevention is always better than cure.

P.S – We advise you not to go to the gym until it’s safer though. These are for those of you who need to go and do not have a choice.
