When was running invented? That’s a pretty hard question but the most probable answer to that would be when the first known biped ran to save its own life. Running was officially born as a sport in 776 B.C.E, in ancient Greece in the town of Olympia. Since its inception, the race was the only competition hosted at the Olympics. Before this, running was a tool that people possessed that allowed them to find food and avoid dangers.
One of the best parts about running is that the sport is so inclusive – no matter your age, location, culture, shape or size. It fits into your life whatever way you need it. Despite the many leisurely aspects of running here are a few more reasons for you to start.
No.1 – Physical Health
● Running helps just about every aspect of your health. Running is one of the most straightforward ways to get some of the most important benefits of exercise.
● From improving your cardiovascular health, building stronger bones to generally feeling great physically running does some wonders to your body.
No.2 – Mental Health
● The “Runner’s High” is considered to be a myth by some people. However, from first-hand experience and as heard from my other runner buddies, it’s very real.
● It’s documented that while running the brain releases chemicals called endorphins which can improve your mood, your outlook and hence your overall happiness.

No.3 – Stress Relief
● Another mental health benefit that running provides is it relieves you from stress. The simple act of going for a run can help put everything into a new perspective and help you live a low stress life.
● Some level of stress is needed in everyone’s life to stay focused, get things moving and to get things done. However, too high of a stress level can have serious health implications.
No.4 – Social Ties
● Running’s also a great social event. You’ll be surprised at how large and inclusive the running community can be.
● It’s the easiest thing to do to lace up a pair of sneakers and hit the road. Having someone to run with can make the experience better and more relaxing as well.
No.5 – Work Towards A Goal
● It’s important to always keep your goal in mind because that’s what’s going to get you out of bed in the morning.
● Start off slow with small targets and keep pushing your limits. Set your goals such that you feel challenged by them and it should be accomplishable.
Apart from these five reasons given above, there are so many more and that’s for you to find out. Happy Running To You All!
