Many of us wonder how some people, could be your friends or family, are always in good shape. They stay fit and healthy throughout but at the same time they do enjoy everything that life offers. It can be pretty puzzling.
Well, for the most part, you need to keep in mind that even though they seem to be freely enjoying themselves in front of you, what keeps them in good shape is a set of habits they have cultivated over the years.
Yes, getting into shape is definitely challenging but learning how to maintain your physical fitness and health once you have attained that, is the real challenge. Here are some tips that may help you stay in shape.
No.1 – Eat Healthy
Do you ever come across someone in really good shape trying out every new fad diet? I don’t think so.
This is because they’ve moved beyond that. They’ve already made healthy eating as a part of their lifestyle.
You can maintain an 80/20 balance, which means 80% whole foods and 20% soul foods. This way you don’t have to restrict yourself of anything as well.
No.2 – Enjoy Exercise
If you feel like going to the gym and getting on that treadmill is a task, don’t continue doing that. Exercising can be so many things that you enjoy as well. For example, if you like playing an outdoor sport, do that. That way you enjoy what you’re doing and you’re getting in your daily exercise.

No.3 – Prioritize Health & Fitness
While most of us prioritize work, family, social engagements, etc we sometimes forget about the most important aspects, our health and wellness. Fit people always tend to make that their priority and hence they stay in shape.
Once you build up the habit it actually becomes harder to not exercise because you become so used to prioritizing it in your life.
No.4 – Enjoy Eating All Foods
You’ll see that a really fit person wouldn’t feel guilty about having a cheat meal every once in a while. That’s because he/she has been eating healthy for so long that a burger or a pizza is not really going to affect their fitness levels or goals in the long term.
Also, having a cheat meal every once in awhile kills your cravings, if you did have any. So, next time you go for that bar of chocolate make sure to restrict it to every once in a while or your progress wouldn’t be as much as you expect it to be.

No.5 – Lots Of Sleep
Fit people tend to get in lots of quality sleep. By lots what I mean is the required amount which is at least which is around 8 hours.
Good sleep gives you the energy you need to work out on a regular basis, it regulates your metabolism, repairs your muscles and boosts your athletic performance.
No.6 – Hang Around Other Fit People
Who you spend your time with definitely plays a huge impact in terms of the habits you develop and even the person you become.
If you surround yourself with friends who are into bike riding, playing football, healthy cooking etc chances are you would be doing the same too.
No.7 – Stay Active Always
Fit people always make it a priority to have a regular exercise routine. Apart from this, they try to stay active outside of their workouts as well
So how do you start doing this?
- Walk wherever and whenever possible.
- Choose active weekend activities like trekking, bike riding etc.
- Take the stairs always.
Getting in shape first has to start with the belief that you can do it. When you believe in yourself and put in the work you’ll definitely see that results start to follow. So, don’t wait for tomorrow or next Monday, start today!
