What are your egg-spectations?

I was going to tell you a joke about an egg, but I realised it’s not all it’s cracked up to be! …Get it?!

Sorry, moving on..

There’s a reason  HYPERLINK “https://www.instagram.com/p/BsOGulcndj-/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link”the most liked picture on Instagram is that of an egg, yes, everyone loves them! Apart from being popular on Instagram, eggs are really easy to cook and are one of the most popular choice for breakfast all around the world. It’s a great idea to incorporate eggs in your diet if you’re not allergic to them.

Let’s see what we can egg-spect in your meal!

Proven source of Protein! All that high quality protein packed in that egg shell. Delicious and healthy? Get straight to that frying, scrambling and boiling already.

Eggs help repair your body! What happens when you’re working out? Your body breaks down the existing muscle and lets it repair to grow thicker and stronger. Thank the amino acids in the eggs that are present in exactly the right ratio which are responsible for repairing our cells after that intense workout.

All that Vitamin you can name! A, B, D, E and K! Added some zinc and calcium as a bonus. You’re welcome.

Contains the good cholesterol! Eggs raise the amount of high-density lipoproteins a.k.a. the “good” cholesterol. This carries cholesterol from other parts of your body to your liver. Your liver then removes the cholesterol from your body. People with higher levels of HDL have a lower risk of heart disease. This warrants a:

Fact Check! – Eggs do not raise blood cholesterol.

Good for your eyes! Apart from green leafy vegetables, antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin occur in egg yolks. They help protect your eyes from damaging blue light which is emitted by the sun, indoor lighting, televisions, laptops and other electronic devices. Low levels of these antioxidants are a leading cause of blindness. Research shows that regular consumption of egg leads to an increase in both serum and macular levels of lutein and zeaxanthin. Now you’re egg-ducated!

Now that we have all the facts, it’s time to answer this: Any idea what the egg did when it saw the frying pan? You’re right. It scrambled!

Not good enough? Fine, I’ll try to stop.

But remember, now that the eggs have cracked their cholesterol stereotype, it’s a good idea to incorporate them in your new healthy diet. Start cooking healthy peeps!

On a hilarious side note : Never count your chickens before they hatch. After-all, they’re only eggs.
